Hello, my name is Sydney.
I am a full-time undergrad student at BYU studying communications and creative writing and a part-time writer with several publications to my name. But most importantly, I'm bibliophile with a deep love for spreadsheets.
I started writing at the ripe age of five, directing and starring in my own play. At 14, I created an Instagram account devoted solely to my love of books. Today, that account has over 5,000 followers and is a platform where I regularly review and market books for publishers and authors. And at 19, Goodreads featured me as a bookstagrammer.
If writing and editing were two circles of a Venn Diagram I would be the third bit in the middle. In 2018, I published my critically acclaimed poem "Love is a Lie" in BYU-Hawaii's literary journal Kula Manu, and I made my debut in the news writing field with a feature piece in BYU's The Daily Universe in 2019. In 2020 I was the copyeditor for Kula Manu, interned with BYU Magazine, and began my position at Impact Magazine as the lead writer. In 2022, a poetry collection I edited called "Hopscotch Brain" will be self-published on Amazon.
My dream is to work in children's publishing, influencing the rising generation with stories that changed my life, creating a world with more empathy and inclusion.
