Hi, my name is Sydney!

I write about chronically ill and disabled people falling in love with life, and sometimes in love with other people too. I believe platonic soulmates are real and that my cat, Rooney, is the best cat in the world. (All of my characters also have perfect pets.)

 

After earning my BA in Communication and Public Relations, I completed an MFA in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University. I've previously published award-winning poetry, but now I'm focusing on books. My debut novel is coming out one day.

 

I write books based on my lived experience as a disabled person with a dark sense of humor. I have POTS, OCD, and chronic pain—just to name a few. My goal is to write a book set everywhere I've traveled, which means I'll probably be writing on my deathbed. My favorite cities in the world are New York City, Portland, OR, Barcelona, and my hometown of Camarillo, CA.

 

I can be found online at @sydneys.books and in person at a concert, or maybe on a plane, and probably at a Broadway show. I'm never home.
